Tim Judson

Timothy Judson, MD, MPH

Dr. Timothy Judson is interim chief population health officer at UCSF Health. In this role, he leads value-based care strategy and, with the VP of Population Health, jointly oversees clinical and quality initiatives for 100,000+ lives in accountable care relationships. He also serves as chief clinical and innovation officer at UCSF-affiliated Canopy Health, where he oversees healthcare quality and value for over 20,000 members. 

A practicing hospitalist and urgent care physician, Judson brings extensive expertise in care redesign, population health, and digital health innovation. He previously held several leadership roles including medical director of care delivery transformation and medical co-director of adult care transitions, where he developed infrastructure for robust population health programs and safe patient discharges. Judson is board certified in Clinical Informatics and has played a pivotal role in advancing digital health and virtual care at UCSF. 

Judson earned his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College and his master's degree in public health from Tufts University. He completed his internal medicine residency at UCSF, followed by a chief resident year at Parnassus. 

Dr. Judson is passionate about rigorously studying and evaluating population health and digital health programs and has authored 35+ peer-reviewed articles in JAMA, Health Affairs Forefront, JAMA Internal Medicine, BMJ, JAMIA, JGIM, JHM, and others.
