Carolyn Stead, PsyD is the Behavioral Health Manager for the Office of Population Health at UCSF Health. Dr. Stead is oversees several clinical programs embedded into UCSF’s primary care including Collaborative Care for Depression and Substance Use Disorders, Behavioral Health Navigation, and Health Psychology supporting the Chronic Illness and the Weight Management clinics. Additionally she is the Behavioral Health project lead for the State pay for performance program (QIP) working with a multidisciplinary team to design and implement strategy to ensure annual depression screening for every patient in UCSF primary care (90,000+) as well as appropriate follow up screening and care. Lastly, Dr. Stead serves as Co-Investigator, Co-Evaluator, and Clinical Supervisor to SAMSA funded University of California SBIRT Collaborative Care Program (SBIRT-CCP.) SBIRT-CCP develops, sequentially implements, and evaluates a multidisciplinary, team-based approach to screening, brief interventions, brief treatments, and referrals to specialty care for alcohol, opioid, and other drug use in both adult and adolescent primary care. Dr. Stead received her Doctorate in Psychology from William James College, completed her fellowship at VA Boston Healthcare System affiliated with Harvard Medical School and Boston University School of Medicine, and is a graduate fellow of the California Health Care Foundation Health Care Leadership Program. She is licensed as a psychologist in California and has 12+ years of experience in progressive leadership roles.
