Michael Helle, NRP/CCP/FP-C, MHA, MBA 

Director, Clinical Programs

Michael Helle is the interim Vice President for Population Health at UCSF Health and also serves as Director of Clinical Programs for the Office of Population Health at UCSF Health. In this role, he oversees various clinical programs and initiatives along with other health system initiatives. The UCSF Health Accountable Care Organization comprises multiple Commercial Payers, Medicaid alternative payment models, Medicare Advantage Plans, and other Value-Based Care Programs. UCSF Health ACO serves over 120,000 lives in addition to other patient populations with a target on diversity and equity. 

Michael has an extensive background in healthcare, with over 30 years of front-line critical care experience as a National Registered/Critical Care/Flight Paramedic since 1994. He has served in various leadership roles the past 25 years, including Director positions in Emergency/Trauma Centers, Outpatient Services, Case Management, Oncology and Infusion Services, and Cardiovascular/Interventional Radiology.  Michael also has a passion for working as a clinical mentor for LGBTQIA+ community with a focus on men with HIV and HIV prevention. 

Michael’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Biology from Minot State University and a dual MHA/MBA from AIU. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.  Michael currently serves an advisor on the CipherHealth Clinical Advisory Board.
